Q: What is FlameTunes?
A: FlameTunes is a great tool for you the artist, the indie label manager, who wants to get total control of the distribution of your own music. With the FlameTunes Player you can sell your music from any website that you control, even directly from your MySpace account (artist page, community sites, blog etc.)
Q: Is my relationship with FlameTunes Exclusive?
A: No. Registering your songs with FlameTunes does not inhibit your ability to get signed to a label or sign distribution deals with digital retailers. Once registered, you have complete control over where you place your FlameTunes Player.
Q: I live outside the USA, can I still sign-up for a FlameTunes account?
A: YES! FlameTunes is open to use for users all over the world. In fact we encourage diversity and hope for FlameTunes to be the leading brand for distribution of music all over the world.
Q: How do I add my content to your database?
A: When you have created an account, you can log in to your own area where you can upload the Content that you want to sell though your FlameTunes Player directly from your computer.
Q: How does FlameTunes protect content? Which DRM are you using?
A: At this point FlameTunes does not support or use any DRM. All the song sold through FlameTunes is in the MP3 format.
Q: Is my bank account information safe with FlameTunes?
A: Yes. We use PayPal for all money transactions so that you know that you safely can use the services of FlameTunes.
Q: What is a FlameTunes Player?
A: When you create a FlameTunes account, you will automatically create a FlameTunes Player. The FlameTunes Player is what you use to sell your music from any site that you control. You simply copy and paste the HTML code to any website that you want to sell your music from.
Q: How does FlameTunes differ from other aggregators and distributors?
A: FlameTunes differs from others in many ways. You can easily sell your music from any site that you can control. You set the price for you music. We have one of the lowest fees in the industry, making sure that you are the one making money of your creative work!
Q: Do I keep all the copyrights of my Content that I sell from FlameTunes?
A: Yes. FlameTunes doesn't get your copyrights in any way shape or form. FlameTunes simply provides a tool for you the Content owner to sell and distribute your music.
Q: Beyond music, can you use FlameTunes to sell other things?
A: At this moment FlameTunes is only for the purpose of selling music.
Q: What does FlameTunes charge per sold track?
A: FlameTunes charges a fee of $0.35 per sold track. This to cover all of our costs: storage, customer services, bandwidth.
Q: What are the available account types?
A: At this moment there is only one type of account, that is the FlameTunes Beta account. This is a free account that allows up to six (6) songs for upload. We are working very hard right now to create other options for larger accounts.
Sign-Up Questions
Q: How often do I get paid by FlameTunes?
A: You, the rights holder, will be paid after you have earned $15 or more and FlameTunes has received payments for the tracks sold. We deposit your sales dollars on a monthly basis into the PayPal account you provide us. If your earnings do not exceed $15, the balance will be rolled over to the following months until you reach the $15 minimum.
Q: Must I have commercially available audio recordings to sign up with FlameTunes?
A: No. You can sign up with FlameTunes as long as you own or control the right to distribute the sound recordings you want to register with FlameTunes.
Q: What if I am already signed up to an aggregator?
A: First, ask your aggregator if they have a deal in place with FlameTunes. If not, if your agreement with your aggregator is exclusive, tell them about FlameTunes! If it's non-exclusive, sign on up with us!
Q: What if I sign with a record label in the future?
A: If you retain the rights to any of your master recordings, you will not need to make changes on those tracks. For masters that fall under your new label, those tracks would have to be registered with FlameTunes by your new label. If your label's not currently signed up with FlameTunes, get them on board!
Q: What if I start my own label?
A: Good for you! If you start your own label, just add the label name information to your account.
Q: What if my content is already being distributed by other retailers, such as iTunes, Napster and/or others?
A: No problem. FlameTunes contract is non-exclusive, so you can work with whomever else you like! Like you, we want your music everywhere!
Q: Do I need to be registered with ASCAP, BMI or SESEAC to join FlameTunes?
A: No. You can sign up with FlameTunes as long as you own and control the right to distribute the sound recordings you want to register with FlameTunes.

A: FlameTunes was founded by Nima Khakpour in Stockholm Sweden 2007.
